I'm Just a Lonely Boy

Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna is a relatively unknown series, written by Kyo Shirodaira and featuring art by Eita Mizuno. It was originally a mystery manga that was eventually adapted into an anime series. The anime is considered by some to be incomplete as production may have stopped at episode 25 of a 50+ episode series. The cause of the cut is rumored to be a car accident which led to the deaths of the anime’s producers however there is no confirmation on whether or not this is true. The manga on the other hand was completed in 2005. It spans 15 volumes and ran in Monthly Shonen GanGan from the release of the first chapter in 2001. The anime was dubbed by Funimation in 2003 and the manga is currently being released by U.S. Publishing Company, Yen Press.

Spiral revolves around Ayumu Narumi, a high school student as he tries to figure out the Mystery of the Blade Children, a mystery so complicated that it caused his brother to leave in pursuit of it two years prior to the start of the series. Ayumu finds his wit and will put to the test as he faces grueling challenges from both the blade children, and those who wish to destroy them.

For those who love mysteries Spiral is the perfect thriller. Spiral has rich characters and a deep and intricate plot. The art is easy on the eyes and both the anime and manga have unique endings. Spiral also sends a good message about the power that people have when they just believe in themselves and how it’s possible to change the future even when everything seems hopeless.
