a simple and naive boyBasil is close in age to Tsuna and the majority of his guardians. When Basil is first introduced in chapter 83 he is fourteen years of age, therefore during the Ten Years Later Arc his older self is 24 when he appears in promotional scans. Basil is born in mid-summer on July 23 which according to the Western Zodiac would make him a Cancer. Basil’s blood type is O and his height and weight are 157cm and 47kg respectively.
Although Basil was born in Italy the vast majority of his favorite things in his personal life are more related in the Japanese culture that Reborn! is set in. Basil’s favorite food is natto, a popular Japanese breakfast food made from fermented soybeans and is usually served over rice. As for music, Basil is a fan of enka which is a traditional genre of Japanese music which is known for its ballads and rhythm that was originally set to speeches during the Meiji period. The worst part of Basil’s Japan addiction is found in his most treasured possession, a sumo apron. It’s the underwear that was given to him by his master… an idea that is frankly, gross.
Basil’s hobby is washing clothes which he does at several points when he first appears. He apparently finds it ‘calming’ and uses a washboard and tub of water to wash in. His master told him that it was the “Japanese” way of washing clothes. Of course this is untrue but Basil is always insistent that what his master says is correct, even as Tsuna stares dumbstruck at the idea that all Japanese people wash their clothes in this manner. |
