calming and quietBasil is a calming force to Tsuna and the others which is a characteristic of his flame attribute, the rain flame. He is low key and is rarely over excited or stressed, he usually is calm even while he is sparring against Tsuna or fighting seriously against Squalo. His calm presence is supported by polite and humble mannerisms. Basil is always overly thankful and he constantly thanks those around him for everything, he thanks Tsuna and his family for giving him food when he eats with them ( Ch. 231) and is shocked and extremely grateful that he is offered a chance to join in their huddles prior to the ring battles against the Varia ( Ch. 107). He even thanks Tsuna for giving him the chance to spar against him as an equal.
Basil is also a loyal member of the CEDEF, the Consulenza Esterna Della Famiglia or outside advisors to the Vongola. He is fine with being used as a decoy by his master even though he was putting himself in serious danger ( Ch. 91). He also follows on his masters words to a‘t’ believing everything his master says is completely accurate, even though it is far fetched at times. This loyalty also leads to a sense of naivety and purity that gives Basil an innocent appearance despite the fact that he was raised for and by the mafia.
Basil is unable to understand how “normal” people act because he lives on what his master tells him. He believes that Japanese people wash with washboards and speaks in an archaic manner all because his master told him to. Basil shows concern for others; even as he is injured while fighting Squalo he worries more for Tsuna and the wellbeing of his family more than his own. He also tries to minimize the damage to those around him while fighting (though his opponents may make that hard) in order to protect the wellbeing of those he doesn’t know and may never meet.
